HONESTY

Mr. Hogan was an honest man. He was Honest with himself knowing that he had to find a way to stop hooking the golf ball. He destroyed one of his first shipments of his company's Hogan irons because he felt it was not made up to his standards.

The first lesson, in the Ben Hogan's Letter Lessons is the Steady Head Position. Mr. Hogan felt that the head was the center of gravity of the golf swing and it needed to be put in the address a certain way and the have the correct leg and body action to work with the steady head.

We should think of our lives the same way. The instant gratification that the modern world gives us is not from our own inherent character traits. It does not have to be worked for or desired. It is just given to us.  Do not let your bodily desires that are passing stop your from achieving your life's goals. Instant gratification will hinder you and your family and close friends.

Mr. Hogan knew he had to be honest with himself. He knew that he had to believe in himself and work like the devil to achieve his goals. His wonderful golf swing and his tenacity in life is a great tribute to his legacy. Thank you, Mr. Hogan!
